RegaCLEAN

Roller shutters as pollutant filters

Air pollution is a major problem in cities and urban areas. With RegaCLEAN, we offer self-cleaning roller shutters that filter pollutants from the air.

This is how RegaCLEAN works:

1) Treatment: the surface of the roller shutter is treated with an aqueous photocatalytic formulation containing nanoscale titanium dioxide.

2) Activation of the photocatalyst: when UVA rays hit RegaCLEAN, the photocatalyst is activated, triggering a chemical reaction.

3) Formation of oxidants: The electrons produced react with water molecules and oxygen in the air to form highly reactive hydroxyl radicals and superoxide anions. These are strong oxidising agents.

4) Degradation of pollutants: The reactive oxygen compounds oxidise harmful nitrogen oxides in the air, turning them into harmless nitrates.

5) Self-cleaning: organic substances, dirt particles, bacteria, fungi and viruses are broken down by oxidation processes. Only carbon dioxide and water are produced, leaving the surface clean and hygienic.

6) Clean air and sustainable benefits: the photocatalytic effect means fewer pollutants enter the environment. This improves indoor air quality, maintains the value of the building, reduces maintenance costs, and improves the carbon footprint.

Years of protection
The cleaning process repeats itself constantly within fractions of a second. As the pollutants are deactivated, no residues are formed and the catalyst is not degraded.
